New Jersey Chapter of the Sierra Club

Save the planet, help stop climate change, clean up the environment, and support sensible laws that protect clean air and water and overburdened communities. In Burlington County, the Chapter is represented by the West Jersey Group. Read the latest issue of The Jersey Sierran for news of our activities in the Garden State!

The Sierra Club was founded 130 years ago and constitutes one of the most powerful and influential environmental lobbies in the United States. In New Jersey we are fighting to stop the continued buildout of fossil fuel–based power plants and prevent development of hazardous and climate-warming liquid natural gas infrastructure. We support offshore wind energy development and solar power, and we advocate for sensible state and local planning policies to stop unrestrained warehouse development and the harmful effects this causes, such as increased diesel pollution and disappearance of limited open space. The Sierra Club welcomes new members, both young and old, and has an abundance of volunteer opportunities to fit all interests and environmental passions. There’s no reason to sit at home and worry about environmental decline when you can get involved and help make a difference.

Volunteering with the Sierra Club is also a way to learn how you can change your practices to live in greater harmony with the natural environment. It’s never too late! Find out more. Visit our website today! We need you. The planet needs you! To join the West Jersey Group of the NJ Chapter, contact Gina Carola.
